The Tequipment SMART Board Academy, July 7 - August 14, 2008
The effective use of the SMART Board interactive whiteboard in today’s classroom.

All sessions for the Tequipment SMART Board Academy are now full! Thanks to all who signed up. The Academy promises to be a great experience! For anyone who was not able to reseve a seat, we are currently working to provide free online access to select Academy sessions. We will be posting updates on this site and on our blog at blog.teqsmart.org.

The Tequipment SMART Board Academy Summer 2008The interactive whiteboard is one of the most revolutionary tools for improving teaching effectiveness at all grade levels. Administrators need to know how well their teachers are using this evolving technology, and how they can be successfully trained to use interactive whiteboard technology. That’s where Tequipment's TeqSmart training program comes in. We work with administrators to develop and improve the ability of teachers to interactively engage students and promote the creativity needed to implement new interactive whiteboard teaching methods. The Tequipment SMART Board Academy is a TeqSmart program specifically geared toward helping administrators to evaluate the effective use of the interactive whiteboard and its integration into the classroom.

The Tequipment SMART Board Academy is a wonderful opportunity for administrators to receive the training needed to accomplish these goals. We can show you how to evaluate your teacher's use of the interactive whiteboard and supply any needed training to bring your teachers to a high level of familiarity with interactive whiteboard skills and methods.

When & Where?

Tequipment’s SMART Board Academy, July 7th through August 14th, is offered free to central administrators, regional administrators, learning center administrators, principals, assistant principals, regional staff developers, and school-based coaches. All the courses are taught by TeqSmart SMART Certified Master’s Trainers, who are also NYS certified teachers. Sessions are held at two locations: SMART Technologies, Inc. showroom at 200 Lexington Avenue, The Design Center Building (between 32nd and 33rd Streets) Manhattan, and Tequipment’s showroom, 95 Toledo Street, Farmingdale.

What courses to take?

It is our goal to help you learn ways to evaluate and shape your school’s or district’s SMART Board use. It is easy to walk into a classroom and see that a teacher has something displayed on a SMART Board, but how do you really assess what type of learning is taking place? Throughout the Academy we will investigate ways to further integrate and evaluate the use of the SMART Board interactive whiteboard, Notebook™ software, and other educational technologies. Together we will explore effective and engaging uses of the SMART Board, ways to help teachers plan and design interactive learning environments, how to use SMART Technologies products to assess student learning, and so much more. Take as many courses as you like but we recommend that you complete the following three courses (TSBA001—003):

  • Identify Effective SMART Board Use (TSBA001)(3 hours): In this interactive course learn how SMART Board and Notebook software can be used to create an effective and meaningful lesson.
  • Planning and Designing Engaging Learning Environments and Experiences (TSBA002)(3 hours): Continuing from the previous session, this hands-on course demonstrates simple techniques and best practices that teachers can use to design engaging and interactive lessons. Learn multiple tools to evaluate effective use of SMART Technologies products and other educational materials and resources. Share these tools with your faculty to help them plan and design their lessons.
  • Assessment and Evaluation (TSBA003)(3 hours): In this interactive course learn how to use SMART Technologies products to collect and analyze data, interpret results, and communicate findings to improve instructional practice and student learning. Upon completion of these three courses you will have a deeper understanding of how technology can be effectively used within the classroom. You will now have an efficient and valuable way to evaluate technology used in your school or district.
